The Glastonselfy idea started in 2015 when Leanne Self was diagnosed with terminal cancer aged just 41, after visiting her in hospital and chatting to her she explained that she had a feeling she would never go to Glastonbury (her favourite festival ) ever again ..So I decided to ask some local bands to do a bit of a mini festival at Newbridge rugby club 2 weeks later we had 10 bands come on board to give their time for free and the name Glastonselfy after her favourite festival and her surname was born. Very sadly 4 weeks before the event Leanne passed away but it was the family's wishes for the event to still go ahead and it did and was very successful. The family wishes was to make it a yearly event to remember Leanne so the following year it was held again at the rugby club with 14 bands and we raised 4,000 plus a local company donated a headstone for Leanne.
Two years ago due to public demand we raised the bar a bit and went on to hire a local farm with two stages 21 bands over the weekend with weekend camping plus lot of activities for all the children.
This was a massive event and sold out in a matter of weeks .
In 2018 we went one step further by holding the event at the beautiful Penallta park in Ystrad Mynach with even more bands and even more family attractions!
The event was a great success with more than 1500 people in attendance!
This year on the 7th and 8th of June we hope for another great turn out, So we hope you can all join us in remembering the beautiful and wonderful Leanne while raising money for an amazing cause Winston Wish children's charity.
